Have some questions about camp? Check below to see if we have managed to answer them for you…

1) Why are camp times different this year?

AJB Holiday Camps will be running the following times: 08.40 to 09.00 (Register) – 15.40 to 1600 (Pick up) this year with different groups having a different registration location. This is to ensure that registration/pick ups are managed safely by having a slightly different registration point for each camp.

We are unable to offer our normal extended hours of 8am to 5pm due to the restrictions on combining different bubbles and our safeguarding policies.

2) How will I know my child’s group and time to register and pick up?

When booking online, you will be asked to select the appropriate grouping for you child. We have split these by camp type (Activity and Football Strikers camp). We are limiting each group for safety measures. Each group will also have a different sign in location around the school to help social distancing and decrease any risk of infections.

Registration and Pick up Timings

Activity Camp – 08.40 to 09.00 (Register) – 15.40 to 1600 (Pick up)

Football Strikers Camp – 08.40 to 09.00 (Register) – 15.40 to 1600 (Pick up)

3) Why are only full week bookings available online?

We are prioritising the safety of all campers and staff in our decision to only allow full week bookings this summer. By restricting sign ups to full weeks, we are able to place your child in a ‘bubble’ for the whole week, where they will only come into contact with the other children and the coaches contained within that bubble. This decreases the risk of infection and increases the safety for everyone at camp. We have also taken this step in consideration with the current government guidance and in line with the policies being set out by schools at this time.

For single and multiple day bookings, please contact us directly and we will consider special requests but cannot guarantee availability. We are also unable to accept walk-ons for this summer.

4) Will siblings be split up if they can’t be placed in the same group?

Inline with the current government guidance we are able to have siblings in in different camps (Activity and Football) but the preference would be for siblings to be in the same camp.

Camp management reserves the right to adapt bubbles prior to the week commencing if they feel it will increase safety for all involved.

5) Will children be able to switch bubbles?

Before the camp week has started, and if we have capacity for change within a bubble, our team MIGHT be able to consider a request to switch bubbles. However, due to our number one priority being health and safety, if all bubbles are at full capacity we will unfortunately be unable to grant these requests. If your child has a particular friend at camp who they would like to be in the same bubble, we advise that you discuss which bubble they are looking to sign in to so that they will be together for the whole week.

6) What activities will you be running at camp?

We have planned a fun, active and engaging schedule of activities aimed at meeting the needs of each child at camp. Children will be able to experience arts and crafts, board games, Lego, and of course football, tennis, badminton, dodgeball and loads more camp favourites.

We are limiting equipment as much as possible and have robust safety and hygiene measures in place for all pieces of equipment that will be used. This includes regular sanitisation throughout the day, as well as before and after each activity.

8) How do I know my child will be safe at Camp?

As an Ofsted registered childcare provider and with many years experience of running holiday camps, we already have incredibly detailed and robust policies in place for safety and risk assessment. We have reviewed and updated all of our current guidance since the pandemic hit and included specific measures for COVID-19 safety and hygiene. All up to date government guidelines have been followed.

Cleaning breaks have been regularly scheduled into each day and at key times (snack/lunch) and each child will remain in their bubble and with the same coach across the entire week. Bubbles will be kept apart from each other throughout the day and at break and snack times, and registration and pick up times have been spaced out. All children’s temperatures will be checked prior to signing in each day and sanitisation stations will be located throughout the school.

9) What happens if someone shows Covid-19 symptoms at Camp?

If a child displays COVID-19 symptoms they will be immediately removed from their bubble and put into an isolation room until they can be collected by their parent, guardian, or carer. We will then advise you to follow the strict government guidelines for anyone who is suspected to have COVID-19 or is showing symptoms. This currently involves contacting 111, arranging a test as soon as possible and remaining in isolation until you receive your test results. If the test is negative, you can come out of isolation and return to camp. If the test is positive, you must remain in isolation until 10 days have passed. In the case of a positive test, please contact AJB Sports in Education and we will organise a credit note for your remaining days at camp. In the case of a positive test, the bubble will close immediately and all children within that bubble will be advised to follow the government’s ‘close contact’ procedures.

All decisions to return to camp will be solely based on health and safety for all children and staff. Government guidelines state that following a negative test, children are safe to return to camp the following day.

10) Have AJB Sports in Education team members had additional training?

Yes, we have been in contact with all team members throughout the COVID-19 outbreak and have issued guidelines for keeping the whole team safe, and also how to operate within the school and camp environment. We have closely followed all government advice and that issued by Public Health England, and continue to monitor these sources daily so that we are up to date at all times. All team members have also undergone specific Covid-19 training from our company, which included CPD in which our staff were informed of the new and updated policies, registration and sign-out procedure, Covid-19 protocols and more. Most importantly, the whole AJB Sports in Education team are highly qualified and have proven themselves to be excellent communicators and caring people throughout their time with us. We are all dedicated to making your child’s summer the safest, most creative and fun filled experience that we possibly can!
